Born in Philadelphia, he grew up in Lansdale. Bruce now lives in
Gilbertsville with his wife, Illoyna, and son Ian. Bruce graduated from
North Penn HS and served in the Navy after which he attended and graduated
from LaSalle University. Currently, he is the Chemical Manufacturing
Manager at Sermatech International in Limerick where his division makes
high temperature paints and coatings, which are used in aerospace,
industrial and automotive applications. He has also worked as a weekend
ERS dispatcher for AAA for the past 9 years. Bruce’s interests/ hobbies
have always been cars, HO trains, and sports, particularly baseball and
his beloved Cubs.
In his youth, Bruce owned both a brand new Sunbeam Tiger and
Datsun 240Z and then found himself relegated to a family man’s station
wagons for 20 years. When the Fiero first appeared in 1984 he liked the
car’s premise and construction techniques, but with a young son, he
couldn’t justify owning one. Then in 2000, as a mid-life crisis loomed,
he went looking for a car to relive his youth. Having always had a
slightly eccentric personality, he sought out an unusual car to purchase.
He looked at Reatas, Miatas, Gen II MR2’s. and Merkur XR7’s -- all
cars that had been of interest at one point or another.. Then he looked at
the Fiero again. For him it was love at second sight and all was lost.
He was completely smitten with the car appearance and it’s
affordability. His first Fiero, a 28k 85 GT christened “the Silver Queen”
by his wife, was purchased in October that year. In May of 2001, needing
to replace an aging daily driver, an inexpensive 88 Coupe was purchased.
It has come to be known as “The Black Hole” because money cannot
escape from its gravity well. Then and there Fierobruiser decided that his
raison d’etre was to save all of the unwanted Fieros in the world from
the crusher!
He has since acquired a silver 87SE 200k plus daily driver. an 84 Coupe
parts car, a gold 87SE project car and unable to resist, an 88 Formula
which will be operational by summer. He first joined FOCOA and then MAFOA
in 2000 and has attended all the events that he possibly can with his work
schedule.
